As Maine’s construction industry faces growing demands and a tightening labor market, the Maine Construction Academy (MCA)—operated by AGC Maine—is emerging as a critical solution in developing the next generation of skilled professionals

Why MCA Exists

Founded to respond to workforce shortages and an aging industry, MCA serves as a bridge between education and opportunity. Its mission: create a steady pipeline of job-ready individuals equipped for construction and trades careers across Maine

Key Program Offerings

  • Hands-on training through the Construction Immersion Program, combining classroom instruction with real job-site experience.
  • Participants earn credentials such as OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid, rigging & signal person, and NCCER Core while working on job sites and gaining exposure to tasks like formwork, piping, grading, and equipment operation
  • Participants receive weekly stipends and guaranteed interview opportunities with local contractors

2. Apprenticeship & Career Pathways

  • Focused apprenticeship pathways including concrete laborer, electrician, crane operator, carpenter, and more.
  • Industry-aligned education maps directly into paid apprenticeships and job placements across Maine

Real Impact in Motion

  • Over 100 youth applied, with more than 50 enrolling in the first 2023 immersion classes across Maine locations like Bath, Brewer, Westbrook, and Biddeford AGC Maine.
  • Graduates who complete the training receive credentials and move into apprenticeships and jobs, helping fill Maine’s in-demand trades roles AGC Maine.
  • Parents and educators praise the program’s life-changing impact: “It has had a profound impact on not just students’ career paths, but their lives as a whole” AGC Maine.
